Start and stop a replay
Choose Start Replay and approve Android’s screen-sharing request. While Replay is active, the app keeps a recent recording window based on your selected replay duration and cache limit. Choose Save to keep that moment as an MP4 clip, or Stop Replay when you no longer want screen capture to continue. Use the stop control to end capture. Check whether the control indicates saving or discarding before stopping.
You can also start from the Instant Replay quick-settings tile: add it to your tiles, then tap it to open the app and start, or tap it while recording to save.
Android may stop long captures for its own background limits. If that happens, the app keeps what was captured up to that point as a recoverable draft where possible.
Audio modes and missing audio
The Audio selector on the home screen offers four modes:
- Mute — video only, no audio track.
- Device Audio — sound playing on the device, such as app or game audio.
- Microphone — your voice through the selected microphone.
- Device + Mic — both, when available.
Audio capture requires Android’s microphone permission, including for device audio. Some apps and protected media block device-audio capture on certain Android versions; in that case the available source keeps recording. Changing audio is blocked while a replay is running — stop first, then change.
Microphone inputs
Tap the microphone button on the home screen to pick an input: Built-in, USB, Bluetooth, or Wired. Auto prefers an external device and falls back to the built-in microphone. Switching inputs during a recording is supported; the app confirms the actual route before showing it as active. If a saved external device is disconnected, the app attempts to use an available input. Check the input indicator and saved audio after changing devices; routing behavior depends on the device and Android version.
Quality and replay duration
Use the Quality selector on the home screen to choose Efficient (720p, 30 fps) or Balanced (1080p, 30 fps). Use Duration to select the available replay window. Capture settings apply the next time you start replay; an active session keeps its original parameters. The retained history can be shorter than the selected window, depending on elapsed recording time and available cache.
Saved clips
Saved MP4 clips are stored in Movies/Instant Replay. From the Recent Clips list you can play, rename, share, or delete a clip, or select several and delete them in one go. Copies you have shared elsewhere must be managed separately. Uninstalling the app may leave saved videos in the shared video library.
Recover an unsaved replay
If a recording is interrupted or a save fails, the app keeps the captured data as a draft where possible and shows a recovery card. Choose Retry Save to export it, or Discard to delete it. Recovery depends on the data that was retained; it cannot restore content that was never captured or has been deleted.
App language
Settings → Language switches the app between English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, Español, Português (Brasil), Français, Deutsch, and Русский. The default follows your system language. The change applies immediately.
Permissions that Instant Replay asks for
- Screen sharing — requested through Android each time you start Replay; nothing is captured before you approve it.
- Microphone — only when a selected audio mode needs it. Device audio also requires this permission on Android.
- Notifications — on Android 13 and later, so the recording status and save actions stay available. If you decline, you can still save from inside the app.
